Art, anywhere

The best tips you'll get.

This is a simple guide to our products that highlights their value to the busy parent and helps you make the right choices choosing art supplies. With a few simple pointers, you can make the most out of the precious playtime you spend with your child, without ruining your clothes, home or budget. We have products to accommodate for any schedule, any child, anywhere.

Colour pencils

Need something to keep the kids occupied while you attend to other matters? You can't go past the humble colour pencil. They're safe, clean and easy - all you need is some paper to draw on, and cleaning up takes seconds. Invest in a set for your child to while away lazy Sunday afternoons, and carry a Micador early stART Triangle Purse Pack with you for those times your pride and joy wants to draw and you really, really need a coffee.

Crayons

Crayons have smooth binders and allow easy colour lay-down onto paper. They’re a great compromise when kids want something fun, but you want something mess-free! Plastic crayons are especially clean- they won’t leave hands greasy and they can be sharpened just like a pencil!

Markers

Another easy option for parents; some kids prefer markers over pencils because they can lay-down colour onto the paper faster and the colours are more intense. Look for markers that are designed to not dry out if the caps are left off, like our Safety Markers. The plastic casing will also keep little hands spotless. With water-based ink, cleaning should be a breeze with a wet cloth.

Oil Pastels

Oil Pastels have a strong, vibrant pigment content and a buttery composition, providing luscious colour lay-down.

Oil pastels are fun, easy to use and will keep kids entertained for hours. As an oil-based product, you’ll need to set aside a colouring area, away from carpet, curtains and walls.

Paints

Let’s face it, paint isn’t something you can just whip out when you’re trying to distract the kids and probably shouldn’t be left with them unattended! Paint can be a nightmare to clean up, so we've designed our Easy Wash Paint, specially formulated to wash off wall, clothes and anything else they weren't supposed to get on Even though they’re washable, fun and kids love them, you probably want to set aside a ‘painting corner’ to avoid any unwanted mess.

Here are few handy tips to make using paint less scary:

1. Start by laying down a mat to protect your floor or table. We have a Splat Mat which is perfect for this, or simply use a plastic sheet or some old newspaper.

2. Art Smocks or aprons will go a long way to prevent any intentional or accidental spills onto clothes. Old shirts can also do the job, just make sure to ask mum or dad before you raid their cupboards!

3. To mix the paint, use a Clean Slate Disposable Paint Palette, or an old plastic container or cover a plate with aluminium foil. If there is a lot of paint left, cover it with plastic wrap for later use.
